IBC offers 4 courses such as Certificate in Church Ministries (CCM), Diploma in Church Music Ministry (DCMM), and Bachelor of Theology (BTh), Majors in Pastoral Studies, and Christian Education, and Master of Theological Studies (MaTS).

CERTIFICATE IN CHURCH MINISTRIES (CCM)

Certificate in Church Ministries is designed for the lay leaders of the IEMELIF Church. CCM is a 30-unit course that is designed for the enrichment of their church ministries as dedicated and efficient leaders of the IEMELIF Church. The classes/sessions are held in their respective districts. CCM is designed for further enhancement of their leadership skills, church management, biblical interpretations, preaching competence, doctrinal and theological articulation, competence in Evangelism and Mission, and skills in Christian Education.

DIPLOMA IN CHURCH MUSIC MINISTRY (DCMM)

This is a one-year course with 30 units and 2 MEC (Music Enhancement Course) summer classes. It is designed to prepare and empower the students (Church workers and laypeople) in the field of Church Music.

BACHELOR OF THEOLOGY (Major in Pastoral Studies)

Bachelor of Theology, Major in Pastoral Studies is a four-year program designed to provide students with biblical, theological, and ministry foundations essential for leadership and growth as church workers, and for training and teaching church workers in a Bible School setting. (176 units)

BACHELOR OF THEOLOGY (Major in Christian Education)

Bachelor of Theology, Major in Christian Education is a four-year program designed to prepare the students for Christian Education ministries. Students will be able to gain an understanding of learning and teaching principles, develop skills and competencies in teaching, organizing, and administering programs. This program also addresses students’ need to be theologically informed and doctrinally sound. Students are also trained for the Bible School setting. (173 units)

MASTER OF THEOLOGICAL STUDIES (MaTS)

1. RATIONALE

In 2004, the IEMELIF Church adopted a New Discipline through Church Discipline Convention. One of the major changes is about prescribed theological education for ordination or commissioning of Workers. To be qualified for Pastor na Sinusubok, 2 years of baccalaureate studies at IBC must be met; for Diakono, a graduate in Bachelor of Theology; and for Presbitero, the requirement is a master’s degree in theological studies. For the past 16 years, our Bible College has not provided its own master’s program; hence, the requirement has been relaxed by both Consistory and General Conference.

There are two major reasons for our inability to offer a graduate program: lack of faculty members with postgraduate degrees and an insufficient number of books as required by ATESEA. This year (2020), however, IBC can start offering graduate studies as an ecclesiastically approved program. Later, this program will be recognized by our accrediting partners, such as ATESEA. IEMELIF has produced faculty members with postgraduate degrees, and partnership with other faculty members is also feasible.

Almost all seminaries, both local and overseas, are offering online theological education. MaTS will also start as an online program and will be offered as a hybrid program after the COVID 19 Pandemic.

2. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

MaTS is a graduate program that is ecclesiastically accredited by the IEMELIF Church and is hoped to be accredited by IBC accrediting agencies.
